THE DEAD DON'T DIE

(2019, dir. Jim Jarmusch, 104 min.)

Another rewatch, my first since seeing this in the theater back in 2019. At the time, I reflected that the movie's comedically listless fatalism was a pretty clear metaphor for living in the late 2010s. Looking back on it six years later, it kind of reads as a metaphor for the slow-motion disaster of the post-pandemic/Jan 6 era as well, where we had literal YEARS to do something about the obvious problems in front of us but nobody in a position of power had the gumption to do something real.
